This ActiveRain blogger arises each day and repeats the same routine EVERY morning since March of 2007. She gets up and showers and gets ready to start the day. Bright eyed, bushy tailed and energized she trots to her desk.
The aroma of freshly brewed coffee is in the air. Ah, her husband has already made the coffee and has her pc up and ready to go. She logs in and takes her first sip of coffee and checks her email. Nope...the automatic emails from ActiveRain are still not on....but hey, she's thinking about turning it off anyway.
She focuses on her emails first and after responding to all she moves them to the appropriate client folder. Now, for the excitement that has been building up while getting through the emails.
She clicks on the internet knowing it is set to automatically go to ActiveRain....and ...and....and.... NOTHING but a "internal server error" and the rest white screen!
Go back to Twitter to see if anyone responded while writing this post. YUP. Answer ...

I found out one thing today. It can get very lonely if I have only ONE place to go blog and socialize. I now know why Twitter is a good thing. Everyone was over there twittering this morning.
Jeff Turner told me to not trip on the why about Twitter...... and now I know why.
ok this week I am going on vacation and will get my twitter account set up and my blog world clearned up

It's such a TERRIBLE thing!!! How can we suffer if we can't suffer together and share our sorrow? At least you had some coffee... otherwise that would have been a TERRIBLE morning.
Sally~ I know what you mean, I look forward to the 'rain and my coffee first thing every morning too! I am just now able to get "on" today and it is after 2:oo in the afternoon- good thing it is saturday! I signed on twitter a while back, but I guess I don't get "it"... maybe I will figure it out eventually....
I got a note from AR the other day saying that they were changing out servers this weekend. So hopefully it is nothing more then working out the kinks in some new hardware. I know it is frustrating not being able to blog.
Sis - I must admit, I was kind of uneasy with not being able to log on. I was threatening myself in writing a killer blog on MySpace. Alas, now there's no need:-)
Sally - I can totally relate to this feeling. I have been frustrated a few times lately - it seems like the time I have been available to get on AR has been "proxy server error" time.
Sally, the only thing that really bothers me about Active Rain being down and then up and then down, the powers that be NEVER tell us what is going on. You would think their networking gurus would have this system figured out by now with the 89,000 of us. If you figure it out, let me know. Cause when I check in and server error is reported I'm off to do other things for several hours.
I have used the time AR has been done to spend some time with Blog Boy, write a post with him and hang out at the pool. I really don't mind when AR goes down. It forces me to remember there's a real world out there and actually kinda fun. But you of all people know how I feel about spending too much in the virtual world :)
As I was reading this post, smiling of course, I was thinking it seemed like a Big Twitter!!! I'm a little more impatient than you... my "Check to see if AR is back up...nope" is more rapid fire AK 22 style!!! LOL, Thanks, Fran
Gary: And that's most likely the best thing. We get things done in the outside world.
TLW: Yeah...that's why I wrote what I was doing in between. No pool for me...just pools of water in my ceiling from a flood upstairs. :)
Fran: Well, I wasn't going into detail...it was probably far more than I mentioned :) In the meantime, I got everything done...including blow drying my hair!
Sally-I love twitter and I have fun with it and learn from it...I saw someone looking for a REALTOR again online..this has happened a few times since being on twitter. Just like you I have always ran to the rain but lately I just go to twitter so I don't get so upset..its me twitter, the twits coffee and my cats in the morning.
Sally, I really have to check out Twitter, everyone seems to love it. I've been challanged as well during the day trying to get onto AR when I'm home---lately it's been having it's share of difficulties staying up and running.
Internall server error 502 for the second morning in a row! One day I can adjust and drink my coffee out on the patio, but the second day, this guy wasn't a happy camper. I hope Rain isn't going to update their systems on our time. LOL
Sally looks like you and me are creatures of habit. I also have the same routine every morning, but I do not think that ActiveRain is ready for a description of that yet ......... LOL
Hey, Sally! Yeah, it sort of goofs with my morning when the white screen and black letters! And you're a bunch of hours behind us, so you either got up really early, or AR was down for a really long time!
Sally, What a cute blog. I know I have withdrawals now when I can't get in the Rain these days, and find myself popping back in that tab, and checking it just in case it came back up. Rain is always tabbed in my browser these days. Is that addiction? LOL
Hey Sally, I am a new rainer and I thought to myself this morning "Is active rain like this all the time?" I wanted to start some blogs but after getting the proxy server error message I too wondered where do I go from here!
Hi Sally..I guess AR world was experience a group "moment" this AM!
Sorry about my anonymous comment yesterday but AR keeps logging me out(but not kicking me out) and I don't notice until I can't read something or my subscribed list has changed...annoying!
Pat: Apparently a long time down...at least I got to get on before going to do an Open House :)
Bob: The "just in case" scenario...I do that...often. Hahaha. One thing is for sure...the anticipation for it to come back is sheer relief when it does. I love this place :)
Desiraee: Not to fear....they are up and running and all the bugs will get worked out quick.
Suzanne: Well, better late than never!
Joan: I figured it was someone who knew me....seemed 'familiar'.
Gary: Come on down! The thing I like about it is no matter what time I go on I see our AR friends!
Katerina: Look at the bright side...right now it's 24 hours later...and I'm having my coffee, checked my email and now responding on ....AR!
B&B: Today's a new day!
Woo Hoo! Your day sounds full and part seems entertaining but I haven't been to Twitter. I guess one day I should make my way over there and maybe I will find some friends there, whatdoyathink? (new word).
Hey William!
Well, new friends and friends you already have are there :)
Insurance company is sending investigator/adjuster and after our association :)
Sally- no twittering for me.....but I do love my coffee :) Now if you were to tell me the coffee pot broke I would get upset, AR not working...just well....it is working isn't it? LOL.....amazing how dependent we can become on things.
Sally, your day starts like mine, emails first, then Active Rain to see what I missed. Then check in with twitter, maybe write a post or start one. I'm keeping my contacts and clients first priority, you can get so absorbed in these social networks that the day can go quickly by.
Your right, one is not the number to have, the problem I find is having enough time to manage all my blogs, social networking sites and still be on the street selling homes.
I've actually been quite discouraged by the Interanal Server Errors - if my clients can't get to my blogs why write them?
I realize that these errors don't occur all the time but they do occur frequently enough to concern me. :-(
I only have limited time to play on here and it's frustration when I can't - then I get behind. I still have a gazillion comments to comment on from the other day!
Double whammy occurs when both AR and Twitter are down! I had a really bad day the other day when not only were AR and Twitter down, but so was the real estate message board I visit! I felt like I needed therapy!
