Here are some important facts you should know before coming to Canyon Lake, Texas or New Braunfels, Texas. A Great Place to Have Fun and in order to stay safe please follow a few simple RULES.

Please check out to keep you and your family safe.

The Guadalupe and Comal rivers are fun places to be in the summertime. Just look at the thousands of residents and visitors who hit the water each weekend. For inland boaters, Canyon Lake provides a wide space to head out for water sports, fishing or just a good time.

State law requires that children under 13 must wear a personal floatation device on any vessel less than 26-feet long unless it is anchored or tied to the shore. All boats, including canoes and kayaks, must have personal flotation devices or life jackets for every person on board.

Tragically, anyone out on the water - whether floating in an inner tube, boating or swimming - is at constant risk from injury or drowning. Just like driving an automobile, the risks are multiplied when alcohol is involved.

Remember the following points when you are on the water:

· Wearing life jackets save lives.

· Designate a driver. Sober boating saves lives.

· Boater Education saves lives.

• Safe boats save lives.

Always respect others when out in public. Always respect people's property when out in public. This will add to having a fun filled and safe vacation.

Howdy Carl and Ceil

Very will said my friend's.

Just to many folk's don't think about safety, when they are on the water.

Folk's do need to respect others more than they do most of the time.

God Bless The U.S.A.

Thanks Dale for taking time to stop and comment on this very important blog. Infact, last weekend we had a teacher from one of our area high schools drown down at the coast; got caught in riptide, 57 years old. Safety should always be top priority when your around the water and especially back yard swimming pools.

I think that PFS's are a good idea for everyone to wear out on the water. Too many drunk boaters in this area and invariably we have 10-12 drownings a year because people do not wear them. Good post!

Michael - I agree, you always have to show caution and respect being on or around water, too many people forget the danger.
