Christmas Searcy realtors white woodruff ar change

Christmas is over!  Business is back!  I'm glad.

But while looking through some of my old things, I came across this picture.  Searcy Board of REALTORS used to be called White Woodruff Co BOARD of REALTORS.  I became President in 1989 and it was still called White - Woodruff Co but shortly after that the club was renamed Searcy Board of REALTORS.  That was a good change and it was also easier to write.  Woodruff County and White County had been dropped and we used the city name of Searcy.

But looking at this little invitation to the annual Christmas awards banquet made me think again about how things have changed.  We would never have to hand draw an invitation now.  We'd whip it out on the computer.   I suspect that I was the artist on this one but not the one who wrote the other information.  I would not have said, " Your Are Invited" ....I am horrified right now to be seeing that!  We have nice flat screen TVs now and that one appears slightly rounded and probably quite heavy.  And don't say it might be a notebook computer.....not in 1986!

In 1986 we were probably still using carbon paper, using a one page contract and stopping at the phone booth to make a phone call.  I'd say things have mostly changed for the better....but much more complicated.  I am glad to still be around!

Back then RE stats, FICO info etc were not shared with public. Comps prepared by realtors were not monitored.  It was easier to be a realtor. Today, with all data in front of everyone the need for buyer agent is greatly reduced. I am not aware people use realtors expertise locally often.  Most listing agents now can cover several counties with a better technology.

The homes are so expensive in CA most investors go out of the state to cheaper places making offers on line mostly through listing agent. The sharp buyers deal direct with home owners.

Sam, those are some other vast changes.  The young folks shop on-line before ever consulting a REALTOR.  It is very important to make your listings look good on the internet.

Honestly it doesn't seem like 1986 was THAT long ago but wow, what huge changes have happened in recent years.
