. It matters not whether it is a first time Buyer or Buyers who have not bought in a while...Credit Scores are sometimes a "foreign number" and not been "translated" in a while...OR the impact of lower score on many more things than individuals realize.
It matters not that the ABC Credit Bureau of the Internet says your score is X or that your friend, neighbor, co-worker went to the same lender and got a different rate..you have a different score.
It doesn't matter what every score on the internet is...What DOES matter is the credit score the LENDER gave you...he/she is the conduit for the mortgage you seek...not the "magic internet". That number may have everything to do with the interest rate you are paying on credit card balances...personal loans or the ability to get one...it may...even make some difference in your job.
Your credit score may mean an FHA loan or other loan with higher interest is the one you will have to use to begin or to become a homeowner. That may mean a Budget....a different kind of social life....fewer vacations...a less expensive car.,,,as re-ordering of priorities.
Sometimes people who have not had money management experience...the member of the divorcing couple who was not the money manager...the first timer who is just out of college...the newly widowed...OR someone who may have had credit problems in the past and pays cash for everything...each of these individuals can have challenges with credit scores.
I had a college professor who said...if you want to analyze your priorities in life...look at your check register/bank statement...it is very revealing...how much money goes where...he was right !
There is no shame in getting assistance with improving your credit score...building it up and lowering the rates for a variety of things that you may be paying more than you have to....it demands a little work, a little discipline...may mean a re-ordering of priorities...in the end, you can congratulate yourself for doing what you needed to do to make the most of what you have...and what you earn.
