Wordless Wednesday: Carlsbad Beach Stone Sculptures

stone sculptures on Carlsbad Beach

I took a drive along the beach on this rainy blustery day after running some errands in Carlsbad Village.

Once again some talented person, or persons, took a few moments to create these stone sculptures about a mile south along the coast, by the jetties at the mouth of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon. It's kinda fun to see them appear, only to disappear, and the re-appear again when someone feels inspired.

Dear Jeff,

They look like Inuksuit. Navigation markers for areas with few landmarks.

Such structures are usually created to mark which direction to go on a trail that is not heavily used.  I remember seeing a structure as such on a beach when I was in San Clemente and thought it was really cool because it was in the middle of the beach.

I love these, Jeff.  I'm sure there may also be some conspiracy theories about the creators.

I have seen "Stone Stacking" along the trails here in the foothills, and at the beach. The amaze me, I am not tallented anought to balance them like that.

Jeff simple but very nice.  Some people have a far more creative imagination than I do.
