STOP BEFORE YOU PRINT THIS  - CLOSE THE TAG CLOUD!

The other day in the office, I noticed someone had printed a blog post from Active Rain - it was one by Brad Andersohn.  There must have been 30 pages or more, and it was mostly the tag cloud.... just a long list of keywords that meant nothing at all when printed up.  You know that ended up in the trash.

Don't let this happen to you.

PLEASE CLOSE THE TAG CLOUD before you print those interesting posts, and save a lot of paper!

HOW TO:

Over on the right hand side of the screen is a list of words that the blogger has used for keywords or tags when posting.  If you're new you might not notice that this cloud can go on for miles on some blogger's posts.  There's a little minus symbol that you can click to minimize this tag cloud.  Now you're ready to print without wasting a lot of paper.

As suggested by the other members, the best way to print a post is by copying and pasting the parts you want, using a program like WORD.

THANKS FOR LISTENING

I don't usually print anything from AR to paper....I print it to a .pdf file and save it on my computer.  I can then edit the document before printing to paper.

Thanks for the tip, I don't want to waste a tree :o)

I haven't tried to print out of AR yet, but usually when I want to print just specific information I will hilight it and then only print the selected section of the page.

Very wise words from a very wise lady. Thanks for the reminder. We kill enough trees as it is. I hope you are doing well and take care. Later in the rain~Deb

Georgina- This needs to be featured! I did not know that! And I have wasted lots of paper with tag clouds especially when I am printing a blog post of ours for one of our sellers. Thanks!

Nice tip on the tag cloud, Georgina! This also raises a feature request for the AR Team -- can we get a 'Printer-Friendly' link added to our posts?

If I want to share the info I normally email the link.  If it's something I find valuable for my own use I use the "bookmark" feature so that I can refer back without hunting.

Nice tip.  I sometimes cut and paste things to Word and then print them.

All the best!

I learned a long time ago to just select the portion I want to print....copy and paste to a word document and then print.  For some reason it prints a blank paper if I select and print from here.

Makes great sense and you can close the "Archive" too. Seems the Cloud could really mess you up.

Thanks for the tip!

Hi Georgina,

Thanks for the tip!  YOU'VE JUST BEEN BOOKMARKED!  Enjoy your day!

7:57am • #16

I see this was mentioned a couple times, but just to reiterate:

To print any post from AR, I have found that the best way (for me) is to copy the post and paste to a MS Word or Publisher Doc, then print that doc.  That way you only print what YOU want.  I don't think AR posts were ever setup to be printed.  This is the work around I have been using for the past year, but then I rarely print posts. Hope this helps.

(CTRL + C and CTRL +V) copy and paste.

Adding a print feature that would do this automatically would certainly be a nice enhancement, but as I'm sure you're aware, we are working on other issues right now.  :-)

Great tip, thanks.  The only success I have had in printing posts was via the method Brad mentions.  When I tried to print directly from AR, all of the comments got jumbled together.  It was a real mess.

We can all save a few cents on our printing costs these days. Copying and Pasting is another way to save paper when you find blog information that has to be printed.

5:57pm • #25

Thanks for the hints, and you are right, it will save lots of paper, especially if someone has lots and lots of tag clouds.

Georgina, though I seldom ever print pages, it's good to know that you could expand and contract the lists on the right.
