With the ever increasing cost of living, many people out there are trying to cut back on their spending on new born baby stuff groceries, furniture etc. Below are some frugal hacks to help you get more value out of your hard earned money.

  • Shop at Thrift stores and estate sales for most stuff like rare China, intricate cutlery, pot and pans, children and adult clothes, shoes and furniture.

  • Reuse Ziploc bags - Yes those ziploc bags. You can reuse them as long as they have not had oily or smelly stuff in them.

  • No paper towels, just regular towels that you can wash. You will save a lot of money in the long run, in addition to saving the environment.

  • Homemade toothpaste and deodorant is catching on lately. Some deodorants are made out of coconut oil and baking soda that cost about a dollar. Put it on with your fingers. Is that weird? Kinda but it works, you know there are no harmful chemicals, it is cheap and it lasts forever.

  • Meal Planning every week. Taking the leftovers from family get togethers & freezing meats, etc for future meals.. buying staples at Dollar Tree. Switch to bar soap, it lasts much longer and is much cheaper.

  • Shop food items during deals and sales. Find out which day the stores in your areas have deals and sales on food. Stockpile on all the dry and freezable foods. Look out for canned foods that have dents on them. They are usually half price because of the dents and scratches.

  • I know this is not the easiest lifestyle to adjust to but try would love to be self sustainable! Homestead so your annual grocery costs are minimal.

  • Those of us with kids hang pants to dry. Dryers shrink pants lengths by up to an inch. You will save a ton of money by NOT replacing kids’ jeans earlier than needed. Switch to cloth diapers, they are cheaper in the longrun, you will use them on your subsquent children.

Give those tips a try, you might be surprised how much money you save.

I love your tip for using cloth diapers.  Wish more people would think to do that.
