Some closings surprise you . . .

The real estate business can become monotonous if everything is going well and the same. I'm not complaining. I'm all for monotony. And, then there are those closings where everything shows up at the 9th hour when everyone is ready to strangle somebody. I do try to avoid those, but they happen.

Friday, was one of those simple monotonous closings where everything was going fine and smooth. What made this one different was the buyer. When the listing agent, the lender, the closing attorney and I were finished with our work, the buyer asked if he could pray for us. Everyone agreed and stood as he prayed. That was a first. Maybe we would have less of those 9th hour closings if we started that way. Just a thought.

Hello Mike - well there is definitely prayer involved in some transactions before and during the many stages. Whatever works some may say.

I can handle boring, uneventful, and monotonous transactions.  It's the stressful anxiety filled ones that can burn you out in a hurry. I am not against praying to any gods that are handy to facilitate a smooth transaction!

Hi Mike, some transactions definitely require more prayer than others. I've had a buyer where he was told by his Pastor who heard from God not to buy the home, this happened about five days before we were scheduled to close. One of the mortgage brokers from ActiveRain was handling his mortgage, he and I were about to pull our hairs out. Luckily, he came to his senses and closed on the house.

Beth, I had a lender call me Friday to tell me her borrower client has decided not to buy my listing. He said, "The universe is against me and it's telling not to buy the house." I said, "That's fine, but tell him that I'm taking his EMD and I'll be pursuing him for all of the funds for all of the unnecessary repairs my clients made that he had to have." He decided the universe was wrong, and he's going through with the deal. Good thing.
