Congrats go to Lindsey Haden...for an outstanding job over the past year for Mach1 Realty!! The most listings and closings in 2018!
This young lady rocks.
I have known Lindsey since she was in diapers and learning to walk back in the '80's.
Late in 2017 Lindsey decided she could do a better job than the agent who was selling her home.
She called me and explained all that was going on. I told her the real money in our area was in farm land and commercial sales and also if she sold in the small towns around her she would most likely do both sides of the transaction.
Full disclosure here: Lindsey is my wife's second cousin. However, we always viewed her as a distant relative simply because we did not know her except from a couple of family reunions. I am not one who generally wants to work with...or do business with...relatives.
But I made her a deal...I was about to leave a management position and start a new company and she could hang her license with me and I would pay her an unheard of in our area 80% of whatever commissions generated on her deals...the only catch...she had to pay for her own ads.
She studied and earned her license in almost record time...and then waited patiently for 2 months as I finished helping 3 young commercial agents that I managed for the old Cresa Omaha complete the process of transitioning into their own company.
Those young men have since become the new Cresa Omaha. Cresa Omaha
(I was time constrained in that their new Broker for the new Cresa Omaha, Eric Rose, could not become the managing principal until Mid-December of 2017 and I had given my word to him, Johnny Dorn, and Luke Wertz, that I would help them all the way through the process so they would not have issues with their clients they were working with. But I digress...that is a story for another blog.
Lindsey was chewing at the bit and anxious to get started.
On Jan 4 we activated her license. (By waiting from Dec 22 to Jan 4, her license would be active for an additional year before renewal.)
So now Lindsey had to put on the big girl real estate pants and she zipped them tight and dove head first into the mix. I told her to be ready for the ups and downs and that the road to the top was not a straight path but an attainable one!!
And she rocked her local real estate community!
From day one she was learning to walk and talk in a whole new way!!
Being a real estate agent with impeccable ethics, a wealth of knowledge, and a great desire to be successful is not easy and Lindsey, coming from a farm industry and construction background, has a voracious appetite for hard work!
Lindsey sold over 10 properties in her first year with values as low as $30,000 and as high as $340,000. She currently has listings ranging from $40,000 to over $1,000,000!! (check them out here: www.mach1ag.com )
She keeps borrowing my For Sale signs as she keeps running out of hers!! That is a win-win for both of us!!
Am I proud? ABSOLUTELY! I can see her becoming one of the top rural agents in the state of Nebraska. She has a 30 year career ahead of her and the sky is the limit!
Oh did I mention that Lindsey is a Mom of 4 and home schools all of them? And helps her husband on his construction projects when necessary?
If you have a chance...please reach out to Lindsey Haden and send a kudos her way! She is still learning the one thing we all know...there are bumps and bruises along the way...some friends and deals you think you will get go a different direction...sometimes deals fall from the sky and sometimes they get swallowed up by the earth...but if you keep moving forward you will not stay in the same place!!
To Lindsey...I love you like a daughter...I admire you as a co-worker...and I am grateful you are part of my life!! I am thrilled that you are learning real estate sales the right way and that I now have 4 young people in real estate in Nebraska that first hung their license with me as their Broker... and that all 4 are successful and will have lifelong careers in an industry that has supported me for over 25 years!
Until Next time...give the next generation a hand up...not a hand out!
Thanks also to Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland for encouraging this well deserved blog!
