Those moments are crucial as they add up over the year. Even agents working from home would do well to remember to break up long stretches of desk time with a simple 15-minute active break.
Have you ever had an active break? Have you noticed it improving your mood, work output and morale throughout the day? This can be achieved simply by walking around your office, building, living room, or down the hall to get a drink of water. A micro break has been shown to recharge your mental state in quicker fashion than waiting for the end of the night to unplug and relax. In fact, it makes those moments leading up to it much more tolerable and in some cases easier. If you are in an office building you will be aware of the climate control and how often it can be at ends with the state, you would like to achieve at your desk. It is unhelpful when it is so cold as to freeze your hands you need for the computer, or too cold as a result of the AC blasting without pause. So, use your micro break as an opportunity to grab some warm tea or coffee or if during summer, run outside quick and soak up some sun. There is an added benefit here, in that you will be walking around slightly, and that sort of physical activity is important to punctuate the day. If you are sitting (and slouching) for 8 hours a day, that will have downstream effects on your health and body. So, do yourself a favor and get those micro breaks in.
