Every so often, a wave of Memes wash over Active Rain like a monsoon, leaving behind a trail of revelations for the world to see. It used to be that you could pick any 5 things to reveal about yourself, but with the super meme, it has been jacked up to 8 specific things that inquiring minds just have to know about.
Apparently, I must be quite the "ladies man" for Active Rain RE/MAX female agents, as I have been tagged twice in a week by the lovely and talented duo of Debbie Summers and Vanessa Stalets. (hmmm.....I hope my wife isn't reading this). Anyway, on with the show.
... ... WE INTERRUPT THIS PROGRAM WITH BREAKING NEWS ... ... As I was getting ready to post, I got tagged again. This time by a local girl - Kathy Passarette. (now I really hope that my wife isn't reading this).
We now return you to our regularly scheduled programming. Prepare to be dazzled entertained filled with facts about me that you never even knew that you cared about.
When last we left, Adam Waldman had promised to do an unprecedented three-part meme, following up the first-ever two-part meme. (wow, my own voiceover announcer...how cool!)
"No, dummy, it's me, your inner voice!"
Oh no!
For those of you that are totally lost, please check out my meme history to get up to speed:
Meme, Meme, Meme, Meme Manly Meme, Woo, Ha, Who (I am)
I Love Me Some MEME! (PART 2 of 2)
Sorry, inner voice. You lost your gig on this meme. Your interruption interview won't be necessary because the questions come already packaged in the SuperMeme. Finally, I'll be able to get through this without interruption!
"We'll see about that!"
Anyway, let's get started.
Question # 1 - Who is your favorite musical artist?
It's hard to narrow it down to just one artist when so many have made an impact on my life. However, there are two groups that have been my favorites based on their body of work. They are Queensryche and Rainbow. These two groups have recorded some of my favorite all-time albums, and I enjoy them today as much as I did when they were first released.
Question # 2 - Who is your favorite artist?
I have been intrigued by a few artists because I find their work to be thought-provoking, so I could call them my favorites even though I don't own any pieces by them. They are Salvador Dali and M.C. Escher.
In the non-traditional form, and for a very personal reason, Anil Gupta is my favorite.
Question # 3 - Who is your favorite blogger?
This is a loaded question, and one that I cannot truly answer.
"Copout!"
No, inner voice, it is not a copout. It was so nice to be able to get through the first two questions without you stepping in.
"Whatever!"
Inner voice, you just don't understand. Picking a favorite blogger is not only difficult, but you also run the risk of alienating people by leaving them out.
Aside from the obvious reasons, I cannot pick a favorite blogger because we are all evolving. There are a number of people that I enjoy reading because of their writing, while others offer advice that can help my business, and the business of others. I have learned so much from many bloggers on Active Rain, that it would be a disservice to answer this question.
Question # 4 - If you could meet anyone (alive or dead), who would it be, and what is the most interesting thing about them?
Wow! This is difficult. The question says "meet" but it doesn't say for the first time. If it is just a general meeting, then I want to meet with my father who passed away nearly seven years ago, but this could be its own series of posts.
If I could only meet one person that I have never met, it would be to meet my grandfather on my mother's side. He passed away long before I was born, so I never got to know him. Unfortunately, my children and my nephew never met my father, and my niece was just a month old when he passed away. The only solace that I have is that he got to call himself "Poppy," if only for a little while.
I'm painfully aware of what my children and my niece and nephew are missing out on, so I can only imagine that I've missed out on something special also.
The other person that I'd like to meet would be my wife's father who passed away when she was just a kid. I'd like him to see what an amazing woman she turned out to be (although my hope is that he already knows). He is a part of my children that I only know through a few photos and some stories, and I truly wish that I could have at least met him.
Question # 5 - What did you want to be when you grew up?
I don't really know. I guess that all kids say that they want to be different things at different times. I've watched my son go through numerous dream jobs already, and he's only five.
The college that I chose to go to was based on a number of factors, but none of the factors was a specific career path. Upon discovering that they offered a music industry degree during freshman year, I decided that I wanted to work in the music business, and I did for several years.
As much as I enjoyed my time in the music business, there was one dream job that still eludes me, but I have not given up on the dream. I would still like to by a lyricist, and in recent years, I have expanded the dream to include other forms of writing (books, screenplays, television writer, etc.).
Question # 6 - What is the most interesting piece of trivia that you know?
No piece of paper can be folded more than 7 times by hand (regardless of the size). I had trouble coming up with something so I checked out a list of Snapple cap facts. This one caught my eye because I've heard it before, and I've actually tried this experiment. I'm sure that many of you will do the same now that you've read this.
"Um...I don't want to be rude, but don't you think that these people have better things to do than to sit around folding paper all day long?"
Yes, inner voice, they do have better things to do, but that doesn't mean that they won't let curiosity get the best of them.
Anyway...
Question # 7 - If you could live in any time in history, what would it be, and why?
Finally, an easy one! It would definitely be the 1950's. I am very nostalgic for this time period. Although much of it comes from the television and movies that I've seen set in the time period, the main reason is hearing my father speak about the 50's while I was growing up. Today's world has gotten so fast-paced, stressful and expensive. I'd love to take a trip back in time and go hang out at the soda shop on the corner with my friends, and drive a car like a '57 Chevy. I imagine my life as Happy Days meets Grease.
Question # 8 - What is the most interesting job that you've ever held?
Working at Billboard Magazine.
To people outside of the industry, it would seem interesting and glamorous that I got to meet and hang out with famous people. To me though, the most interesting part was the actual work environment. We had a close group of friends that were all about the same age working there, and we spent a lot of time socializing after (sometimes during) work. It's something that I doubt could ever be replicated again.
Well, folks, that's a wrap!
Finally! Boy, you sure can yap away.
Enough out of you, inner voice. It's time to tag some others to share their lives.
I'm going to move away from the usual suspects this time and change things up a bit. The following people are tagged:
OK, so there is one usual suspect, but I couldn't resist. After all, when I tagged Debe on the two-part meme, she tagged me right back and I started on my three-parter. I know that I still owe one part, Debe, and I'll get to it. Fortunately, this format will not allow you to tag me back, because all of the questions have already been answered! Good luck, my friend.
