Motivational Monday - Pondering Failure

Channeling Michael Jacobs and pondering this Monday morning...

Two kinds of failure

We often consider attempting something and it not succeeding a failure but, what about those times we simply were too afraid to try something new or challenging? Of course, not thinking through something before trying it can result in just as much of a failure.

Either way, I’m still a big believer that you have to kiss a lot of toads before finding your prince! Failure breeds success and if we step back and recognize our failures, we can turn them into successes.

"There are two kinds of failures: those who thought and never did, and those who did and never thought."                  -Laurence J. Peter

Happy Monday Everyone!

Excellent quote and the fear of failure permeates our society and holds people back.

SO true, Amanda S. Davidson - if we choose not to beat ourselves up over our failures, we always learn something from them. That more often than not, propels us to success! Happy Tuesday!

Hi Carol Williams and Happy Tuesday now! Such a great quote and you know, we always learn something valuable from failure, lending to future sucesses. We just have to pay attention and learn from those failures.

Oh, I totally agree, Brian England - "Trying something that is difficult and not finding success is not failure because at least we tried and perhaps if we try again, we will be successful with it."

You know, when we think of failure, it's often the things that we try and remember the failures...the lessons that later, lead to successes. However, I don't ever want to regret not trying something - to me, that would be the larger failure as nothing is really learned.

Funny but, I used to tell my boys that they learn more when they lose a game (sports) than when they win. They just can't allow their disappointment to last too long - they need to then focus on what they can improve upon. I don't know if I ever got through to them but, I know I said it a LOT, Sally! LOL

I do my gratuities but, I don't write them down, Beth Atalay. I used to be better at that but, I am faithful at focusing mindfully on gratitude each and every morning, without fail. I agree that we need to just jump in and if we succeed, GREAT! If not, more we've learned valuable lessons, for sure!

Great point, Joe Pryor! We never learn unless we try - better to learn a lesson than to never know.

" Where is the lesson to be learned here " is my question when things don't go as planned. Many failures have turned into great successes. Sometimes, it takes a fail to reveal the course you're suppose to be on. If we always look for the lesson in everything - we learn - we advance - we prosper.
