Fortunately, to become a barber you go to school for a year.
Unfortunately, to become a Realtor, you go to school for five weeks.
And the education you get in the school, is “how to pass the test” nothing more.
Now if that scared you enough and you are considering selling your home here is help:
Interview at least three to seven agents.
Why as many as seven? It may take you a while to find your best.
Some you may be able to eliminate before you even talk with them.
Because if you leave a message, and don’t hear from them for three or nine hours, two days, or not at all, you really don’t want that person.
They will want to ask you questions like:
How soon do you want to move?
How much do you feel your home is worth?
Where are you moving to?
When did you want to be there?
Do you already have a home picked out?
That is ok if they ask two, then it is your turn, remember you are the interviewer.
If you don’t know an agent, ask friends, you will get a couple of hand full of names, because almost everyone knows a couple of agents.
You ask them:
How many homes have you listed in the past 18 months?
What was the average days on the market?
What was the longest number of days on the market?
Why Was That?
What is different about you compared to the other 30,000 agents in our city?
What guarantees do you offer?
What is your process with other agents showing our home?
You could very well learn to not even meet fact to face with some of the agents.
You want to have your questions written down, and write down your answers, this way YOU WILL KNOW after a few interviews, what is going on.
