Buying or Selling Homes in Morrison, Colorado? Morrison is unique because it has the feel of a mountain town and is just on the outskirts of Denver. Denver continues to boom while Morrison retains some of its sleepy Colorado charm. Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Park is the centerpiece of Morrison and with good reason, but there are other attractions and reasons to buy a home in Morrison. If nothing else, it is quieter and more affordable than much of Denver.

Like Golden, Morrison is tucked away on the west side of Denver, nestled at the base of the Rocky Mountains. There are homes with stunning mountain views and others with panoramic views of the Denver skyline. There is access to myriad hiking and biking trails as well as the greater Colorado wilderness to the south and west. And the commute to downtown Denver is less than 30 minutes. Unlike Golden, there are some properties that fall on the more affordable side of the spectrum.

Morrison is where the momentum of growth and innovation in the Denver Metro Area slows to meet the more rustic history of Colorado. The town was officially incorporated in 1906 but was already a focal point of stone quarries and intermountain transit. The red sandstone and other building stone mined in and around Morrison can be seen in some of the most iconic buildings in the region including Union Station and The Brown Palace in Denver.

There is an even older history in Morrison as this is a key archaeological site where Native Americans lived for around 7500 years. There are also dinosaur fossils that date back over a hundred million years along Dinosaur Ridge and the Morrison Fossil Area National Natural Landmark. The striking geological formations in and around Morrison are also on the scale of tens of millions of years. This is not new construction. Morrison has extraordinary layers of history in the rock bands, the fossil record, the archaeological remnants and in the more recent written history of Colorado. The history of Red Rocks is also world-renowned.

The natural amphitheater at Red Rocks took over 200 million years to form. The first concert was staged there in 1906, the same year Morrison was incorporated. Since then, Red Rocks has become one of the most iconic concert venues in the world and is routinely rated number one for outdoor venues. The steep seating between Creation Rock and Ship Rock is an unmatched acoustical perfection. Stage Rock has been graced by many of the greatest modern musicians including The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix in the 60s. Nowadays, the city of Denver which owns the venue, stages as many shows as they can. All types of acts and shows can be seen including films, rock, EDM, hip-hop, rap, classical, folk, reggae, and indie bands of all kinds.

Red Rocks Amphitheater and surrounding park is a mecca for live music, mountain biking, trail running, yoga, and other fitness activities. The town of Morrison is little more low-key with quiet bistros, bed & breakfasts, art galleries and beer gardens. Morrison also extends a bit towards Lakewood and Littleton to the east. All-in-all, Morrison has a lot to offer including direct access to Denver, while still maintaining its own old-world character and charm.
