"Guerrilla warfare" in Los Angeles' Ignored Greenspaces

I read this article from last week's LA Times, and it is amazing what these people have done!  There are actually groups of people all over the US who "kidnap" abandoned and ignored greenspaces, and then make them into beautiful, near-self-sustaining gardens.  Oftentimes they have the blessing of the communities and even sometimes the owners, but sometimes their "guerrilla gardens" get pillaged by the rightful owners.

I like the "seed bombs", shown in the photos for the article.  It also looks like something fun that I could make with my kids.  I may be inspired to do something like that  :)
