Early last month I sent a very small invoice to one of my regular customers in Florida. She wrote the check and then forgot to send it, so on February 2 she stopped at Fed Ex and paid for two day shipping.
Then she sent the tracking number and said I should expect the check on Tuesday. That would have been LAST Tuesday.
Needless to say, I wouldn't be writing this if it had arrived.
When it didn't come on Tuesday, I checked the tracking. It said I should expect delivery on Friday. So much for paying extra for fast delivery.
Friday came and went and I knew nothing would happen until Monday. They don't deliver out in the woods on weekends.
Yesterday I checked again and found that it had arrived in Troutdale on Friday evening and was "in transit." No delivery date was specified.
Tonight I checked again and found the same thing - they aren't saying when - or IF - they plan to deliver.
I wonder if they even know where it is. Did they lose it? Did they throw it in a snowbank? What?
Remembering that this wasn't the first such experience, I checked my stats. Sure enough, I wrote this post 3 years ago. They haven't improved, and I have renewed my vow to never, ever, ever use FedEx.
Meanwhile, last Friday I ordered a pair of shoes for my husband. They arrived via UPS on Monday.
And another client in Florida sent a check via the U.S. Mail on a Monday and it arrived on Thursday.
Why do people still believe in FedEx? They've proven once again that they are the "slow boat."
UPDATE: On Wednesday I tried to contact FedEx through their customer service email. I immediately got a response saying my inquiry would be routed to the correct person. Today I got an email saying they would look into it.
Meanwhile... on Thursday I found a phone number and called. The gentleman I spoke with said he would open an investigation into what had happened. The package was still showing as being in Oregon - ever since the previous Friday. He said someone would call me back by 5:30.
Not having heard from anyone, yesterday I checked the tracking again - and found that the package was in Sandpoint and had been put on a truck for delivery at 8:30 that morning. I found it at my back door when I went out to feed the horse last night.
Two day delivery took 13 days - but at least it did finally get here.
