Happy President's Day!
"President's Day" holiday was first established in 1885 to recognize our first President, George Washington on his birthday. However, at that time it was not known as "President's Day." It became popularly known as President's Day after it was moved as part of the 1971 Uniform Monday Holiday Act, whose purpose was to create more 3-day weekends for American workers and after retailers began referring to the holiday as President's Day to promote sales. Today, the day is understood as a celebration of the birthdays and lives of all American Presidents.
When we think of our Presidents, there are any number who quickly come to mind and there are many quotes from our Presidents that many of us immediately recognize. But there are also quotes from a number of our Presidents that are less well known, but yet are inspirational today, on President's Day, and any day of the year.
