There is one reoccurring comment I receive from buyers and sellers who call my office. It's, "I wasn't expecting anyone to pick up." I probably hear that comment a couple dozen times a year. I always find that humorous because, well, I'm in business. One of the primary ways people reach me is through a phone call.
I know, I know, if you don't recognize the number you just let it go to voice-mail, and you'll call them back if it's important. But, the caller goes to the next agent on his list. Think of those unknown numbers this way, if you lived in one state and you moved across the country to another state, do you leave your cellphone behind, or do you bring that number with you?
Of course, most people bring that number with them. I received a call from Japan a few weeks ago. I let that one go to voice-mail. Guess what? It was a seller coming back to the US to liquidate his high-end property. We're meeting this week. Fortunately, I checked the voice-mail immediately and called right back. At least that caller left a message, many don't.
In this time of instant gratification, callers expect results. Every year my real estate company and my electrical business get calls from potential clients who have called other businesses with no results. We nearly always get the business from those calls. Some of my best sphere of influence clients have come through those calls. Please, please, pick up the phone.
