I am lucky and have beautiful red cardinals all year long. I see them in winter and watch as they struggle. That said, yesterday there was a whole gang here, mostly male and all busy flying about and holding their ground. The males went after the females and then seemed to revel in their dominance.

Wow, Sheila, can't say that I've ever seen that many male cardinals in a group like that. Usually I find them in pairs with a female.
