My friend Endre Barath, Jr. is sponsoring a contest this month. He wants our interpretation on a picture of a Painting by Paul Freed. Now I do not want my friend Kathleen Daniels to think I am a know it all as I am not one of those people far from it. I have always loved books and was an Art Major in School. My first job was as an art designer. I designed embroidery emblems. I made the sample designs. Then they went to the clients if it was approved it went to another department where these designers made it for the machines to sew. I also would walk to the local library and get my favorite books to read. When I was a child my parents would force me to go out and play with children and stop reading during the day. Be social my Mother would say.
My older sister Sarae would take me to my favorite place the Philadelphia Art Museum While we were there we would spend the day exploring at least once a month. it was a surreal place to learn about art. A place I continued to share with friends and also my children.
So let us discuss this gentleman in the photo. He is a young man. The books on his head represent his studious mind that he is also trying to keep himself balanced in life. He is wearing eyeglasses one is fogged and the other unusually clearly causing him to see life in different ways. An impressive young man. He is well dressed perhaps a little uncomfortable in that tight collar.
The Artist wanted that cigar in the mouth to show youth and the style of these young men. They sip Chivas Regal Scotch in cigar bars and discuss worldly matters.
Well, Endre that is how I see this young man I hope you enjoyed my story and my entry to your challenge
