f08eBarton Springs Bridge

Austin, has always been one of my favorite places and I've been here a million times.  I love everything about it. Everyone complains about the traffic.  But after living in Houston, Dallas and not too far from Manhattan, the Austin traffic doesn't bother me.  I love coming over here, it's always a good little break.  I love the outdoors and I get to fully embrace it here.  Today, I went with my assistant on the jogging trail around Town Lake and Barton Springs.  I could do that everyday!  What a great place, the path was pretty full, even around 5:30p when the temps were still over 100 degrees.  I'm use to jogging on a very flat surface, so this was a real treat!

Austin is still one of America's greatest secrets.   Texans know about it, but not everyone else.  It is and has been one of the fastest growing cities in Texas and in the nation.  I guess the secret is slowly getting out!

Cindy:  Well... perhaps it's time for you to hitch up the ol buckboard and trek on over there.  It sounds a little to frantic for me.

I'm from Los Angeles, can the traffic be as bad as it is here.  I;ve heard Austin is nice and would like to visit one day!

traffic? does that still exist? we really dont have much traffic here in Eureka. I grew up in the S.F. bay area and it would take almost 2 hours to get across the Golden Gate!

You could always live in Round Rock or Georgetown to escape the traffic and Austin is just 20 mins away (in good traffic of course!)...

Cindy, I love the natural settings and nature in Austin as well and the Barton Springs area is beautiful. The traffic from south Austin to Georgetown on I-35 is horrendous during morning and evening rush hours so if you can avoid that Austin is perfect. It all has to do with a huge population increase and development from 15 years ago.

Great post Cindy.  I have always thought about Austin and I always love watching "Austin City Limits".  Natalie Merchant was on there once and it  was awesome!  Maybe some day I can fly down and see this littel jewel of yours.

Karen-It's awfully tempting, maybe soon though!

Aida-I don't think so, LA is spread out like Houston.  Austin is more compact.

John-2 Hours to cross the bridge...that's crazy!

Steve-I've been to both, lots of times, but I like having quick access to go to the trails to run.

Gary-Yeah, other than rush hours, Austin is pretty perfect.

George-Well, what are you waiting for?  Come on over...it doesn't have the"mountains" like your used to, but we call it "Hill Country".  It's just a different type of terrain than other parts of Texas.
