Can a Minor's Signature be Notarized?

There are no limitations on the minimum age for having a signature notarized. The standard of law is whether or not the signer is signing the document willingly and freely. In short, does the signer understand what the document is that they are signing and do they sign it voluntarily without coercion or duress?

NOTE: Minor children are generally held immune from entering contractual obligations until they reach the legal age. Being a minor child might not be legally bound to the document he/she signs; a notarization of the signature would have little consequence in law either way.

Morning Bob.

I haven't been asked to notarize a minors signature.  I don't believe I would do so if asked.

Good morning Bob. I read your title and thought of course, why not. Again it's not the document just the person signing.

You have actually inspired me to become a notary, not sure what doors it will open for me if I am granted a license, but we shall see.

James Dray it seems to me I have only once and it was a 17 year old with a drivers license so I did not hesitate.

Brian England it's another way to meet people BUT where it helped me the most was getting involved in "Mobile Notary" work. I can not tell you how many times people have asked me to help them as a REALTOR as we worked on loan documents where they were selling a property in another State so they could purchase a home here. The 1st year I did both Mobile notary work and RE I earned over $50,000 just doing notary work. I took a break from it when I purchased my Brokerage but I'm glad to be back at it now.

It always has Will Hamm but I gave it up for a time to focus on being a broker. Now that I'm not active in RE I'm very happy to be back at being a Mobile Notary.

That's a good point to remember, Bob!  Being a Mobile Notary sounds like a nice follow up to a real estate career.

I always enjoyed being a Mobile Notary Myrl Jeffcoat . It's not stress free but it's much less stressful then being a RE Broker.
