Tuesdays Tip #5

You can learn a lot from failure. In fact, some of my greatest failures have propelled me the furthest. But, success breeds success. If you’re surrounding yourself with “wannabes” and “neverwills”, you’re likely to never make it. You need people around you who are tested and tried, whose work ethics are impeccable and whose records suggest they’ve got their heads on straight.

Find people who will tell you how to do something right or who will encourage you to find out how yourself, not people who will kill your dream and knock you down.

REI can be very difficult and discouraging at times. It’s just like anything else that takes effort; if you’re not surrounded by good solid examples and encouragement, you’re asking for failure to come knocking on your door…and come knocking it will.

Latch onto people who will not only encourage you, but tell you the truth as well. There’s a big difference between “haters” and those who are candid. You don’t need someone who hates you, hates what you’re doing, and will shut it down with every breath they take. It’s likely they’ve either failed themselves and never gotten back up, never had the “cahones” to get the job done, or that they surrounded themselves with people who beat them down.

Finding someone who will be honest and tell you the truth no matter how much it hurts you is priceless. Their words can and will still hurt, but they’re trying to help you by telling you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. They are your people. Seek them out and you will find them.

Tuesdays Tip: Be really nice to people with a lot of money and maybe, just maybe, they’ll give you some.
