Pictured above are a fun sculptures of carrots that we spotted at Woeste's in Los Olivos last week. Neither one of us are fans of carrots in our food. We usually substitute a red or yellow bell pepper for carrots, when a recipe calls for a Mirepoix (a combination of onions, celery, and carrots) as a base for a soup or a stew of any kind.
We continue with our quest to practice mindfulness daily in our activities. We have found that we can get so much more done by focusing on the one thing we are doing without distraction or falling into the trap of multi-tasking. The result is that by focusing on the one item at a time, we get so much more done and the results are better than we could have imagined. Tasks become a series of meditative moments.
"If you truly get in touch with a piece of carrot, you get in touch with the soil, the rain, the sunshine. You get in touch with Mother Earth and eating in such a way, you feel in touch with true life, your roots, and that is meditation. If we chew every morsel of our food in that way we become grateful and when you are grateful, you are happy."
Thich Nhat Hanh
Gratitude, appreciation, and mindfulness are the pillars of happiness. We have found that the more we are grateful, appreciative and mindful, the happier we are. The happier we are, the more things fall into our laps that compliment our journey, our goals our wishes and our dreams. Life is supposed to be fun and enjoyed!
"You aren't your work, your accomplishments, your possessions, your home, your family... your anything. You're a creation of your Source, dressed in a physical human body intended to experience and enjoy life on Earth. "
Wayne Dyer
Wishing you a great week ahead!
