Camino Presentation

Today I got to share where I have been. I loved my camino and raised $7500 for Surrey Services for Seniors as I walked from Lisbon to Santiago de Compostella and then on to Finisterra via Muxia a distance according to my phone of 532 miles. Although recently on some local hikes my phone seems to under report the mileage according to friends.

Anyway, I love talking about my Camino Portugues and had the chance today to share the Camino with some members and had a lot of fun. We recently put up a sign in our kitchen that says Do More of what makes you Happy. I did that today.

I enjoyed the company of these members, one of whom came from Galicia the area of Spain where Santiago de  Compostella is situated. There was great energy from these Seniors and some very thoughtful questions as well.

European camino routesMany of the people I met on my hike were older than myself, so I don't see any reason why any of these members would not be able to enjoy a Camino of their own. There are so many Camino routes and so many ways to walk the Camino.

You can go freestyle like me, with a pack on your back and really no plan at all of where you are going to stay; just seeing how far you get and where you can find to stay. There are companies who will plan the whole trip out for you, hotels booked, luggage transferred so you carry very little each day and then there are also all the methods in between as well.

I talked about the people I met, the different surfaces I travelled, where I stayed, the food I ate and a typical day. I showed photos of the major cities I walked through, the signs that direct your path and many other points around the camino.

Lottie Kendall it allows me to relive it and feel it all over again.

Carol Williams exactly, my energy jumps back to being on the camino and all the sights, smells and flavors.

Sheila Anderson I enjoyed meeting the people who attended and one of them knows two friends who are walking this year. Small world.

Brian England I always like helping others and raising funds for Surrey allowed me to enjoy the walk and when it was a struggle to push through knowing it was doing so much good.

Kathy Streib one of the ladies said she wanted to walk with me if she went. I am not sure she would agree if she saw the pace i go.
