Forced Forsythia

By
Real Estate Agent with Premier Property Sales & Rentals RS284559

The lingering cold of winter has put off the cascade of awakening plants and flowers here in SE PA.

Forcythia

Yet there is hope, as it has been happening ever so slowly this year.

The forsythia in our yard has more yellow in its branches.

No bright yellow yet on my travels around the area, but I would not be surprised if they appear on the landscape very soon.

In my impatience for this cascade of yellow to appear, I trimmed a few branches and put them in a vase in water in a bright sunny spot. Warmed in the sun. They are slowly beginning to put on their show, indoors!

That fabulous display of yellow in the landscape is always a very welcome sight after the long cold winter.

We look out over a wooded area, live on the north side of a hill so our forsythia are always late compared to everyone around us, but the trees for several weeks have had a greenish tinge to them, showing the sap is rising and they are just waiting to burst forth in new growth.

Everything is late here too. No wonder 32 degrees again this morning.  It will warm up though, there is hope. Ha. Bet the branches will be blooming soon in your vase. D

Love forsythia. I had some in my garden but it didn't do well.

Sheila Anderson they are just starting to open here.  How about in your neck of the woods?

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD they have bloomed in vase and now just starting to open outside!  Hope your area is showing more signs of Spring also.

Sharon Lee you had many wonderful flowering plants in your garden.  I am glad to have these because the birds really use them as a safe haven just off of our bird feeder.  Where are you these days?
