March Active Rain Challenge Book Smart,I read books but not on art...
First thing that comes to mind while writing this blog for this challenge is a Speechless Sunday-Ganesha-The Elephant God post that I did about maybe 7 and a half years ago when I took a art course at UDC. Though it is not a painting,it is a picture of an sculpture that I took while I was at an Art Museum in Washington DC. Haven't visited some art museums in a while come think of it. Maybe I need to make this a new hobby.
Anyway when I see paintings like this,I always ask myself 'What was the artist muse?"Something, someone or even a thought could've inspired him to paint this painting. Was he doing research on a particular topic and he got frustrated that he couldn't find what he was looking for so he decided to put the books on his head?
Did he get the bags under his eyes from hours upon hours of reading? Was it while he at a bar,he saw a very beautiful woman and wanted to look cool by putting a cigar in his mouth? That could also be a painting behind him. He looks like he is either a fashion designer or just someone who knows how to put a good outfit together. I wonder what other kind of paintings Paul Freed have painted in this past.
From Paul Julien Freed Twitter page- he is New York and New England based. He is also a Raconteur. Raconteur? Honestly speaking I don't even know what that means. I know what an auteur is. One thing I can also say is that I learned about a new painter today who I will also do more research on to find out more about his work as a painter.
Thank you very much ENDRE BARATH, JR. for coming up with this challenge.
