Motivational Post for 3/25/19

Spring is a great time to sell! After lots of planning, plotting, and getting prepared, a Seller typically looks forward to seeing a For Sale Sign in their lawn and Neighbors are often surprised. How can Sellers help their neighbors during the transition?

RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Tell your neighbors you're moving one or two before the sign goes public

  • Saying something is better than nothing at all or letting them jump to wrong conclusions

  • Before throwing things out, perhaps your neighbors would appreciate first offers

  • Pass out your Agent's business cards to your neighbors for potential buyers

  • Don't let good food go to waste, ask your neighbors if they may want it

  • Let neighbors know buyers will be judging your house & the neighborhood

  • Remind neighbors that first impressions of the neighborhood counts

  • Ask neighbors not to engage in personal information about you or your home

  • If buyers without agents stop to seek information, please refer them to your agent

  • Be a good neighbor

  • Consider asking for help from the neighbor's kids paying them for simple services

  • Return anything you borrowed from the neighbors

  • Leave a good and lasting impression before you move

When you talk to the neighbors about moving, wear a cheerful expression and let them know how much you appreciated them as neighbors or talk positively about what the neighborhood had to offer. Keep optimistic about who will move in next and wish them only the best. Be just as enthusiastic about their future as your own.

Some good reminders in your post. So many neighborhoods today no one ever sees their neighbors to talk with. Luckily we see our neighbors and everyone pretty much gets on together.

Hello Patricia - being a good neighbor works as an advantage when it is practiced prior to a for sale sign is installed.

HI Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP,  Your expertise and experience is shining through in this post...

Your photo just sings spring is here!  Your points about communicating with neighbors is so, so, important.  Many sellers just don't know the best way to tell their neighbors.  It is so important that those neighbors hear it from you (seller) so they don't draw their own wrong conclusions or feel slighted.
