With the end of winter and the warmer weather approaching, we are all beginning to think about Spring cleaning.

What is Spring Cleaning?

"Spring cleaning is the practice of thoroughly cleaning a house in the springtime. The practice of spring cleaning is especially prevalent in climates with a cold winter. In many cultures, annual cleaning occurs at the end of the year, which may be in spring or winter, depending on the calendar."  - Wikipedia

Basically, it's a time to do all the deep cleaning that isn't done on a weekly basis. These are the things that particularly fun to do. But let's be honest with ourselves, when is any cleaning ever fun? To make it easier on yourself and possibly save some time, try a few of these awesome cleaning hacks. Not only will they help cut your cleaning time down, but they can also save you some money. Worth a shot right?

Tips For Spring Cleaning

Declutter

This is a great thing to do before any cleaning. Decluttering sets you up with a clean slate. Going through your closet and donating all of the old clothes that you know you just aren't going to wear anymore. Investigating your linen closet too. Any old towels you that have seen better days, cut them up and use them for rags during your spring cleaning.

Gather All Your Cleaning Supplies

Get everything you will need to complete your Spring cleaning. Towels, cleaning solutions, vacuum, mop, rubber gloves, disinfectant spray, and sponges. There would be nothing worse than starting your cleaning, getting in the grove and realizing you don't have the supplies you need. Getting them all ahead of time and putting them in a kit will help save time.

Go Room to Room

You want to establish a plan to follow, so going from one room to the next will make things easier. It could become confusing if you are jumping all around the house cleaning randomly. Most likely forgetting what you had cleaned and either cleaning it twice or not at all.

Forgotten Spaces

We are talking, behind the TV and larger furniture pieces you usually don't get behind. Washing your curtains, windows, and screens. Also, don't forget the window and sliding door tracks. These are all the things that you normally don't think you. That also includes your toothbrush holder!

Really Tackle the Kitchen Refrigerator

The refrigerator can easily become messy quick. Sometime you won't notice a small spill that has happened. Now is the time to really take on your fridge. Assess all your condiments, check expiration dates and toss what needs to be tossed. Take out all the shelving and bins and give them a thorough cleaning.  Use this cleaning tip to save some time while cleaning your fridge. This all goes the same for the freezer.

Spring Cleaning will take some time, don't get frustrated and rush the process. By using these tips to stay on track your Spring cleaning will be a little less intimidating. And just think of how good you'll feel to have a fully cleaned home!

Cate, I like to spring clean all year long, then it doesn't take as long in the actual spring, when we are busy with real estate.  Great tips.
