The race is located on the stunning Olympic Peninsula between the charming towns of Sequim and Port Angeles, WA. The majority of this point-to-point course is on the Olympic Discovery Trail (ODT). The trail includes sweeping views of the Olympic Mountains and a 5-mile stretch that parallels the Strait of Juan de Fuca. This unique opportunity is great for athletes, beginners and families alike. Register today and start training for your best time.

Olympic Discovery Marathon Information

If you’re looking for the most beautiful setting for a run, the Olympic Peninsula delivers. Runners of the full marathon begin in Sequim and wind through the town to the Railroad Bridge Park. Here the trail passes Olympic mountains views during marathonthrough a forest and over the Dungeness River on a 780 foot trestle bridge. The landscape then opens up to the rolling farms and lavender fields of the Dungeness Valley before reaching the open water views. All make for exceptional scenery and a chance to spot eagles, shore birds and marine mammals along the way.

The 17th annual North Olympic Discovery Marathon includes a marathon, half marathon, marathon relay, 10K, 5K and kids marathon. The event takes place June 1st to 2nd and registration is open now. The race is a USATF certified course and a Boston Marathon qualifier. However beginners and walkers are welcome in all the events. All races end at the city pier in Port Angeles, where participants enjoy awards, music, food and a well deserved beer garden.

Not only is the amazing scenery part of the area but the weather is ideal too. Sequim is located in the “rain shadow” Strait of Juan de Fuca view at marathonof the Olympic Mountains, creating what is called the “blue hole.” The area annually only sees 15 inches of rain and the summer sees even less. Past events have had clear, sunny weather with high temperatures reaching only 65F. If that along with gorgeous views sounds like paradise, then Sequim may be the perfect town for you.
