Hello Jimmy - you are able to remove blocks from the widget in the creation process.  So if you don't want the restaurants block you can leave it out.  The links are also set to open in a new window so it won't take people away from your site but rather bring them into a new window.  I see your point though that it may not be useful for all blogs.  I do see a lot of localized blogs that talk about local area information and local real estate and this widget could add value to those types of blog posts.

Josh - this widget won't help for SEO but rather add value to your pages especially if your pages are localized.
