Easter Fun at the Doggie Spring Bonnet Contest and Parade
Carlsbad Village April 14th
There’s some fun stuff happening in Carlsbad Village this month.
Next Saturday, April 20th and the day before Easter, you can enjoy the 3rd Annual Spring Shop Hop, from 11 am until 6 pm. Read more about this fun, free event where you can also win some great prizes from area business.
And EGGStravaganza, Carlsbad's biggest egg hunt, takes place in Poinsettia Park on the 20th, too!
But THIS weekend, if you are a dog lover, and have one, the Witch Creek Winery is hosting a fun event for both humans and dogs on Sunday the 14th.
The Doggie Spring Bonnet Contest and Parade takes place at the Witch Creek Winery at 2906 Carlsbad Boulevard (at the corner of Grand Avenue) from 2 until 5 pm.
To participate, decorate a bonnet for yourself AND your pooch with all kinds of finery – flowers, fruit glitter, bows, whatever your heart desires. You and your fur friend will get to show off your Easter finery to judges during the parade for all to enjoy.
And judges will award special prizes for Most Unique, Most Spring-Like, Most Creative, and Best Pair.
Along with the Doggie Spring Bonnet Contest and Parade, you can enjoy some finger foods and wine tasting, and there will be special treats for the dogs, too!
The entry fee is $25, and the best part is the proceeds will benefit a San Diego-based spay-neuter organization, SNAP (Spay-Neuter Action Project, founded in 1990), that provides low cost spay and neuter services throughout the county to help reduce the number of homeless animals.
