Comment on City of Gaithersburg Budget & Strategic Plan

The Mayor and City Council want your input on the proposed FY20 City of Gaithersburg Budget and Strategic Plan. Comments (up to 3 minutes) can be made in person at a Public Hearing on Monday, April 22 at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. Advance registration is not necessary.  The proposed FY20 budget is $68.4 million, with the real property tax rate proposed to remain unchanged at $0.262 for each $100 of assessed property.

Along with an annual budget, the Mayor and City Council concurrently adopt a Strategic Plan, ensuring that expenditures are aligned with stated priorities. The Strategic Plan covers eleven broad service areas, and includes goals and objectives for each. Action Plan items lay the groundwork for programs and initiatives in the coming year, with critical measures showing progress. Among the many action items for FY20 are outreach initiatives for recycling, the 2019 municipal elections and the 2020 Census, promotion of Opportunity Zone benefits, construction of a new Police Station, and inspection of the City's stormwater infrastructure.
