E Race Duncans Car Lot Chrysler Plymouth old picture

Duncans Car Lot

A few years back, this is the way 702 East Race Street appeared.  It was the home of Duncans Used Cars and also the Chrysler Plymouth dealership.  The small sign in the background says Duncans Used Cars and my husband says that it also said, "What ole Po Dunc says it is, it is!"

An interesting part of the picture is the house on the left which has been gone for a long time.  Also interesting is seeing all those cars in the far background.  They must have been across Vine Street, which runs parallel with Race. I also believe there was a street between the white house and the car lot and it would be Hussey ST.

There are certainly no big towering trees anywhere around the location now.  Perhaps Searcy Sleuths can tell us what happened to that house and approximately when.  Also the car sleuths may date this picture by knowing the car model dates.

This is now the location of a great plant shop, Four Seasons Garden Center.

Hello Barbara - I like finding old photographs like this especially when you have a some expert memories(like your husband's) to add some extra  spirit of advertising to the conversation.

Michael, you are right.  I'll ask him about all these things.

Barbara, I think those cars are early seventies. The rears lost those big tail fins

in the late 60's.

You might be interested in the look of that address in 1990 from Google Earth's timeline.

Also 2018

Don, those pictures are very interesting.  I wish Google went back to the time when the old house was still there.  Thanks for the car info dating too!  In the 2018 picture the car lot shows the flowers and plants that are the business there now.
