Fishhawk Lake is NEAR the Oregon Coast!
(AND less expensive!)
Many potential buyers who look at the Oregon Coast as potential for purchasing property often find that the prices are too high or it just doesn't have the "feel" of a lake home. I get this feedback all of the time from my clients. But! They DO want to option of taking a quick day trip to the coast to get their ocean fix, without the expense of living there part time or full time.
We have the answer for them here at Fishhawk Lake! There are quite a few great beach towns that are an easy day trip from Fishhawk Lake. Here's a brief list of a few of my nearby favorites:
Astoria, an hour's drive is a shipping town, steeped in marine history and on the map because of movies like The Goonies and Kindergarten Cop, just to name two. Many cruise ships stop in this town and it offers a myriad of places to shop, view local artisans, watch seals lounging on the docks, eat on the water, but doesn't offer beachy areas.
Cannon Beach is filled with cool shops, great beach access and also just a bit over an hour from Fishhawk Lake. One of my personal favorites, it gives all of our relatives from the east coast a good dose of Oregon coastal weather, beauty and shopping for wines, clothing, even pet supplies, as Cannon Beach fully embraces dogs-at-the-beach!
Varying restaurants and art galleries, too. Make sure you see Haystack Rock. Always a winner!
Rockaway Beach is about an hour and 45 minutes, and if you go down Highway 101, along the stunning Oregon coastline, you'll pass through many little beachy towns, all with their own personality, like Manzanita (becoming very swanky), Garibaldi, Wheeler...some so small that if you blink, you'll miss them! Rockaway has some kitchy stuff, funky little shops and feels like one of those old-time beach towns that never got really big, which is part of its charm. Many rentals from cheap to high-end...lots of different beach areas, too, some private, some crazy-busy depending upon the weather.
So, you see, you CAN have the best of both worlds, for less cost by buying property on or at Fishhawk Lake and having the joys of visiting the coast without the expense (or the salty air ruining the exterior of your home!!! Just a word-to-the-wise).
