On April 18, 2019, The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Remodeling Market Index (RMI) declined three points to 54 points in the 1st quarter of 2019, from 57 points in the 4th quarter of 2018.
The Remodeling Market Index’s current market conditions index down four points to 53 points in the 1st quarter of 2019, from 4th quarter of 2018, major additions and alterations dropped seven points to 49 points, the component measuring demand for smaller remodeling projects lower one point to 55 points, and the home maintenance and repair component fell three points to 56 points in the 1st quarter of 2019, from 4th quarter of 2018.
NAHB Chief Economist Robert Dietz, stated “NAHB’s forecast calls for slowing growth, given declining home price appreciation and existing home sales volume, combined with rising construction costs.
