Why Women Make Excellent Freelancers

By

Women are perfectly suited to become freelancers. Think about it - successful freelancing requires many of the character traits that women typically have.

The qualities that make for a successful freelance career are things like:

1. Multi-tasking: Women are generally better at multi-tasking. Freelancing requires the ability to wear many different hats simultaneously. You have to be able to market your skills, find clients, complete projects and manage multiple different projects.

2. Communication skills: Women have better communication skills than men. They are often more diplomatic when dealing with clients and effective at explaining problems etc. This can really help in the freelancing world.

3. Responsible behavior: women are generally better at behaving maturely. They are often more considerate and tend to deliver timely results. Studies have shown that women are generally better at problem solving than men thanks to their enhanced development in the limbic regions and frontal lobes of the brain.

Women often out perform men and earn more as freelancers. They make as much as 30% more than the average wage as freelancers! This is in stark contrast to the regular employee world, where women are generally not compensated that well.

Women tend to have a better eye for detail, which makes them ideal for work like freelance proofreading. Freelance proofreading can be quite lucrative with hourly rates as high as $100 per hour. I recently wrote a review about a proofreader that started a course called Proofread Anywhere. This course teaches other people how she was able to make a full-time living as a freelance proofreader (here is the article - Is Proofread Anywhere legit?).

The choice of freelancing niche is often the most difficult decision for women. There are so many lucrative home business ideas for women that you can make great money with. The trick is finding one that resonates with your personality.

Many of my friends are freelance proofreaders, writers and virtual assistants. They all seem to agree that you can make 6-figures a year if you are prepared to work very hard and pick your projects carefully. Most of them are women but one guy that I know made $40,000 in his first year as a part-time freelancer!

Women have an advantage (according to the studies) when it comes to freelance work. Especially in the creative fields that require the feminine traits. This doesn't mean that men can't be freelancers of course! The great thing about freelancing is that anyone can do it and make their own destiny.

Hey Russell,

What a great tribute to the women of the freelance workforce! I'm a success story in progress...and actually started out with Proofread Anywhere myself.

It gave me my start to earning online. A super stepping stone indeed! Now, as a web developer, I use those skills all the time.

Cheers, my friend!

Stephanie
