Even though the market here in the Houston/The Woodlands area is far better than the rest of the nations market, it has become extremely difficult to inform people when the national media is painting such a horrible picture of the housing market and the economy.  Sometimes I find myself falling prey to their negative outlook.  Perfect example:  I was watching a program yesterday morning that had a special guest from a national TV stations Financial network and after watching this person and listening to the advice that was given by this person, well, it made me very nervous.  This person made the comment "not to sell your home" and "if you do slash the price so low that you can walk away with nothing or even paying"  and other comments such as "don't buy anything unless absolutely necessary" "stick to the basics only."

I can't say that I am no penny pincher, but after watch this, I noticed that I started to second guess everything that I was buying!

My question is....Is the the real truth? or have I been living in a bubble, not know whats going on around me?

Richard, the media has blown it out of proportions in most cases.  Every market area is local.  Here in an area as thinly populated as Southern Utah each county is different, some areas the market has really declined and in others, not so much.  That's why I agree with everyone here that says all real estate markets are local and each one is a little different.  Here where we work, home prices have declined, but home that are priced correctly are still selling, we do have quite a bit of inventory, all of which makes it a great buyers market.

I definitely understand what your saying. Looking at it from the perspective of the common consumer, it gets overwhelming and scary. how do you reassure your clients or even how do get this out to your market area?  I am trying as much as possible to reassure my sphere, just gets harder everyday.

Thanks again
