The need to sell a home before you can buy is not uncommon and often, a daunting experience for homeowners.  It is human nature to want to move ahead to the exciting prospect of finding that perfect new home. 

However, there are two facts that you need to consider:

  • the real estate market is local,
  • and a Realtor can help you.

The real estate market varies from location to location.  It may be a good market for selling in one and a slow market for selling in another.  Market conditions in your area will determine

  • how many days your home may be on the market before you sell 
  • and how much you can expect to receive from your home's sale. 

Both the time frame for selling and the expected sale price of your home are critical bits of information; don't leave home without them!  Know when you can expect to sell and for how much you can expect to sell BEFORE you get your heart set on that new home.

All too often, homeowners find that next dream home, but they cannot sell in time to buy it or they cannot afford it.  Why?  They have not correctly calculated their home's sale potential.
