I Probably Killed Them........

I love working in my yard and seeing things bloom and colors everywhere. And so I probably jumped in too soon and bought a bunch of annuals to place around and compliment the soon to be busy forsythia and perennials just beginning to peekaboo. But then there was a frost. The beautiful red impatiens did not survive. I haven't tossed them yet but it is my view that they are done. I probably killed them.

I am biting at the bullet to plant some annuals, but you as you know the weather has not been cooperative.  Hang in there with these, I believe they could survive with some TLC.

A couple of weeks ago we had warmer weather. The nights were only getting down to about 40 degrees. I really wanted to get out in the garden soon.

And then, about a week ago the weather cooled. For the past few nights it's been down to 24 or 25. I could still go start work in the garden - carrots and things won't mind if I plant seeds now.

But - I confess. I'm a fair weather gardener. If it's cold and the wind is blowing, I'm staying in the house! The forecast is for warmer this weekend. I'm hoping.

Hi Sheila... well, you didn't mean to kill them! Who knows, maybe they'll recover.

It should be interesting to see if they do make it. I hope that is the case.  Hopefully your time and money was not wasted.

I certainly don't have a green thumb.  I only plant bulbs.  Can't really do anything to hurt them.

Hi Sheila:

Well that frost was a nasty surprise. I’m betting the impatiens will recover. And if not it wasn’t your fault, it was Mother Nature!
