Fiduciary responsability to the client...not their Realtor...

I recently had a Realtor call me to ask me the clients credit scores and what was on the credit report. He said that the sellers Realtor wanted to know if they were good buyers.

I told him that they were good buyers. That is why I gave them a pre-approval letter. That means that they have been pre approved for the amount stated and we have locked in the rate.

He asked me agian. I stated that he could get that information from his client if the client wanted to give it out to him. Then he yells at me and threatened to come to my office and get it.

I said, "ok, see you when you get here, but I wouldn't waste the trip because your still not getting the information from me." And then I hung up when he swore at me and started calling me names.

And I always ask my clients if it is ok to communicate information directly to their Realtor or do they want me to go to them first.

Chuck, I think you showed excellent restraint I would have put up with that type of treatment for about two seconds before I would have asked for his address . Steve

Chuck, I agree with Steve, you showed great restraint.  Your responsibility is to your client, and to be honest, I don't think that the Realtor nor the seller have a right to any of that information!  All any Realtor or seller needs to know is if a buyer is qualified to take out a mortgage, beyond that it is personal information that they have no right to!

Alpine  thanks, I thought I did hold my composure pretty well.

Toney & Darcy I don't even understand why the Realtor even asked me for that information....he must not have known? I think he has been a Realtor for at least more than 2 years. I first saw his name when I moved here over 2 years ago. Thanks

Dione  Glad you agreed I was handling myself professionally, even though I did hang up on him. Thanks for visiting me.

Patricia  "Chris", do we know each other from a previous life?

I say that because my nickname while growing up was "Chris" My dad was a football coach, and they always called him "coach Chris". Since i was the oldest boy, i was dubbed 'lil Chris" and it is still used to this day...they have droped the "lil" though.
