The Postcard Quest is Nearing the Finish Line

Those of you who follow Ed Silva are probably already aware of his quest to help his grandson with a school project. If you are not (or don't follow Ed...and I don't know why you would not!) his latest blog below gives details and lists the states that are still needed.

He has linked to his previous blogs about this effort at the bottom of his post. If you live in one of the states listed, please take a moment to help. Just buy a postcard that shows your state or its attractions, write two quick facts about your state on the back and mail it to the address provided in Ed's blogs. The only caveat is that it must be postmarked in your state.

Many Rainers have stepped up and helped out but his grandson is still lacking 18 states to reach his goal of having cards from all 50 states. Won't you take a minute to join in the fun?

ActiveRainers Care and Have Helped Tremendously

We are nearing the end of the school year and with that will be the end of the postcard challenge for my grandson.  The class had a task which was to reach out to friends and family across the country to get postcards with postmarks from the states as well as each card to include 2 facts of that state.

The Postcard Chase is Nearing the Finish Line

As loving grandparents, we did our part with selected stops along the drive back from vacationing in Florida. I of course felt the need to reach out on this blog platform and see if some sympathetic friends would assist and it has been wonderful for the activity.

The response from friends, family and ActiveRainers has been very positive and with just a few weeks left there are still a few gaps to fill over the next 3 weeks.  So far, 32 states have been acknowledged as well as the Washington DC area

The missing states are detailed as follows:

Arkansas
Idaho
Iowa
Kansas
Louisiana
Minnesota
Mississippi
Missouri
Montana
Nebraska
New Jersey
New Mexico
Oklahoma
Rhode Island
South Dakota
Texas
Vermont

West Virginia

My wife and I have stopped while on vacation to reach out and personally meet ActiveRainers. This school project for Raphael will have us making some additional friendship breaks with our future travels.

If this post should reach someone in the above open states, the rules are a postcard with 2 facts mailed as follows:

I was glad to see Ed's campaign for post cards was as successful as it was.  This was a great learning experience for his grandchild.

You are so sweet to share this post. I'm on the hunt for a Mississippi postcard, but they aren't easy to find. I hope I find one this weekend while traveling.

I have a hard time believing that noone from Texas, has stepped up and sent him cards where is Wayne Johnson , where is Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR  or where is Lisa Von Domek

Oh my goodness Ed Silva   I had missed this fun project as I have been out of the Rain (on a regular basis)  for the past couple of months.  Fortunately my good buddy Endre Barath, Jr. brought this to my attention (thank you for the shout-out Endre) and I will send a postcard from Texas - it will be in the mail today!

I have been out of the rain for a while.  What a fun project that Ed is helping his grandson complete.

You can scratch Mississippi off the list. I finally found a postcard and Ed has it. Hopefully most have been received by now; it was a daunting task to collect all 50, but this was the right group to ask!

Thanks to all of you for your role in helping Ed's grandson with his project. I had no trouble finding postcards here but from what others have said, they may be going the way of the pay phone.

Endre Barath, Jr. I am heading over now to see the final results. Thanks for the reminder...too much going on lately! Diana
