My 4 Most Popular Toy Review Posts

By
Education & Training with Three Kids, Three Cats, and a Husband

When I first started blogging a few years, my site was mostly a product review site with some recipes thrown in. (I obviously had no clue what I was going.)

For a while I was all over the place. I reviewed things from hair straighteners to spice ranks to rice cookers. (Most of these early posts aren't even on the site anymore; they were so bad and irrelevant.)

But it didn't take me too long to realize that my favorite products to review were toys.

And why not? Searching for toys and writing about them is a lot more fun than, say, comparing three different blenders.

Technically speaking, I suppose my posts should be called "research articles" instead of "reviews," because I do not, in fact, have a home stuffed to overflowing with a hundred toys that I bought for review purposes.

Rather, I write these posts mostly from studying Amazon descriptions, the question & answer section, and customer reviews. Sometimes I quote part of a customer's review, and sometimes I embed a video. Occassionally I went also look at the listing on Walmart or what Consumer Reports has to say.

I never feature a toy that has an Amazon rating of less than 3.5 (I usually try to not even go that low), and I always make an effort to include both the negative points of a specific toy as well as the positive points.

I also go through my posts every few months and update them, including removing products that are no longer available.

The links below are to my 4 most popular toy review posts.

So if you've got a child's birthday coming up or want to do some early Christmas shopping, check out one or two of these posts!

Toy Garages for Toddlers

My son is going to turn 13 in a few days, but when he was little, he loved cars and trucks more than anything. So it made sense for me to review toy garage sets that little guys would love. A few of them were sets that my son used to own, but I included several others as well.

Pink Dinosaur Toys for Girls

This post originally started with a few really cute pink stuffed dinosaurs, but then gradually expanded to include books about pink dinosaurs girls' clothing, pink dinosaur costumes, and pink dinosaur clothes and shoes.

Who knew the market for pink dinosaurs was so huge? I sure didn't!

Glow in the Dark Toys

When you think of glow in the dark toys, glow sticks and frisbees might be the first things that come to mind. But the more I dug into this subject, the more things I found. Between tents, stars that decorate your bedroom ceiling, and glowing stuffed animals for bedtime, there's a lot here to have fun with.

The post includes includes toys for all ages, from toddlers through teens and adults. I even included some glowing toys just for dogs ... because hey, why not?

Minnie Mouse Toys for Toddlers

One of daughters was crazy about Minnie Mouse when she was little, so I'm a little biased toward Minnie myself. This post includes Minnie Mouse costumes for toddlers (there are tons out there!) plus stuffed Minnies and Minnie playsets and dollhouses. I also included some toy organizers for little girls who have (or want) a Minnie Mouse-themed bedroom.)
