Comfortable is a Goooood Thing...

By
Real Estate Agent with EXP Realty 414-525-0563 57026-90 Broker

Many months ago we met a Lady at open house...she was not there to buy the house...she was recently widowed and was going to sell her home and move to another state to be closer to her children. She wasn't "house shopping" she was agent shopping.  We told her...when she was ready we would go thru her home and make suggestions that would help her sell for the best price...we knew many agents in the state that would become her new home and would interview them for her and make suggestions.  She began with the mechanical aspects of her home and found as she says, "energy begets energy" and the more things that she crossed off her list the more she was energized to approach others and She...and We applauded her accomplishments.

We had immediately put her on our snail mail newsletter list and she knew how to in touch with us....and when she was ready ...called us to see what would be next on her list and we toured the home and added some things. She had a dog that had been and is her companion. Her thought was she would go to the neighboring state and meet with the Realtor...spend time with her children...tour some homes and when a home "spoke to her" she was prepared to move everything out of the house and we would sell the home vacant. It would be easier to replace carpeting and attend to some other things with nothing in the house and we explained...and showed her examples of virtual staging we had done for other homes...her comfort level increased...she LOVED the idea.

Our job was NOT to list her house at this stage...but to make her feel comfortable with the process and with us as her representatives.dog cartoon

The conversation continued with dog at her feet at her dining room table with trust growing with both the eventual Seller...and her trusted companion....we knew we had to pass his "approval" too !

The next thing was to answer questions about the process....we have written brochures on both buying and selling a house...AND beyond that we felf she needed an extra measure of reassurance so we went thru all the documents in a listing and all the documents she would receive with an offer. You could feel the warmth and the trust growing....and her much more relaxed posture. Knowledge is power and now she understood what would happen and when...we would design a timeline when she was ready....she loved having pieces of paper for referenence and not a computer presentation. Now she had an offer and a listing...and understood what information would be used to "fill in the blanks."

We got up to leave and she gave us warm hugs...."I knew when I met my husband and when I first saw my Dog...that they were the ones for me....and now I have that feeling again...thank you for the comfort."

If you or anyone you know is looking for a Realtor to help sell or buy a home in southeastern Wisconsin...Call the Hansons, Broker Associates with EXP Realty for a "comfortable transaction."

This is a beautiful story Sally K. & David L. Hanson. Even without the words, that one hug was a clear message about how she felt.

Sally and David - you provide something that not everyone has and that is a certain sense of comfort. Sellers can list their home with you knowing that you both will do everything possible to make their experience a smooth one.

Your focus on her was the key. She needed someone to trust to take her through a difficult time. Your giving her space and time and guidance was exactly what she needed.

Thanks for showing us how to care.

Comfortable is best after a day well lived and a life well lived even more. That’s what I think anyway. :) Even more so with a dog!

Morning Sally.

You and David have one value you two bring to the table that sadly, most agents don't.  You listen before you speak, once you understand the client and their motivation, the more trusted you become.

Love this story. Far too many agents are still playing by the "close em" book. So ridiculous. A genuine desire to help someone while building trust should always come first. Well done. You were a good match for her.

People don't care about what you know as much as they care about how much you care. Little things make a huge impact, I just took a lady of one of my listings to the dentist for surgery and brought her home because she didn't have anyone else, 2 hours out of my day and many thanks that last a long time.

Where ever you are, that's where I'll be!

Selling a home can be very scary for many homeowners.  Your homeowner must have felt very relieved to find agents she felt she could put her trust in.  Great job and lovely post Sally K. & David L. Hanson .
