Look, you don’t have time to be reading a long introductory statement on what you need to do this Memorial Day Weekend in Atlanta -- you’re probably already missing the party! Lots of fun things start now and continue for the next 48 hours, so get down to the list below and figure out your plan to hit Orpheus Brewing’s 5th Anniversary Party, the Decatur Arts Festival, the Atlanta Jazz Festival, and more. And don’t forget to remember the immeasurable sacrifices of women and men in uniform, especially those who represent ATL. Happy Memorial Day!

Drink to Orpheus’ fifth

Friday, May 24
Midtown
For its five-year anniversary, Orpheus Brewing is putting on a four-day party that kicks off tonight. They'll be pouring more than 20 debut brews (five bottles, six stouts, 10 tap exclusives) until kegs, or you, are kicked (out). Sengalese food truck Teranga Catering Without Borders will have eats for purchase.
Cost: $25 - $54

Decatur Arts Festival

Check out the Decatur Arts Festival

Friday, May 24
Decatur
Decatur Arts Festival begins tonight, with all sorts of live improv, literary events, dance, comedy, and other performances. Head towards the square from 5pm to 10pm for ArtWalk, where you’ll be able to cop beers from sponsors (Steady Hand, Three Taverns, Arches) right on the lawn, then stroll around the surrounding galleries and shops to buy local art and sometimes even get complimentary snacks and drinks.
Cost: Free entry

Party like a rap genius

Friday, May 24
Mechanicsville
Little Five Points
Though it’s usually a Wednesday thing, this weekend is the three-year anniversary of Hip-Hop Trivia (the one André 3000 cosigned), so creators Braden Peters and Maurice Garland brought the event to a different venue, Aisle 5 in L5P, and are hosting it live game show-style, for actual cash prizes instead of house cash per usual. Stay for the afterparty with DJ Dusei Da Great.
Cost: $11 - $20

The Emoji Art Show
The Emoji Art Show

Emoji Art Show

Friday, May 24
Colonial Homes
With the lofty goal of elevating “EMOtional and mental health awareness through emojis, art and music,” the Emoji Art Show Tour will feature 30 or so local artists doing live art, body paintings, and performances while deejays spin multiple sets from 8pm to midnight. They’ll also be passing around emoji-themed desserts.
Cost: $15 - $300

Start the day with free tacos

Saturday, May 25
Piedmont Heights
It’s not officially open yet, but Ford Fry’s hooking you up with free breakfast tacos to promote his soon-launching Tex-Mex wood-roastery and taco shop Little Rey’s. Everybody there at 9am will get one complimentary taco (again: one) while taco supplies last, and you can purchase margaritas or non-boozed drinks as you like.
Cost: Free

Camp out on jazz

Saturday, May 25
Midtown
If the weather allows and you’re not at the Atlanta Jazz Festival, you did Memorial Day Weekend like an Atlanta rookie. Everybody comes out and lays on the grass while musicians riff you into the beginnings of summer. This year’s headliners are pianist/vocalist Kandace Springs and Grammy-winning Cameroonian bassist Richard Bona.
Cost: Free

Have a soulful National Wine Day

Sunday, May 26
Stone Mountain
From 11am to 5pm today you’ll be swirling reds, whites, pinks, and more at the Atlanta R&B Neo Soul Wine Fest in Legacy Park. You can bring chairs and blankets, and your unlimited wine tastings are covered in the cover charge, as well as live bands.
Cost: $20 - $30

Hit a luau with bartenders from James-Beard-nominated restaurants

Sunday, May 26
Decatur
Victory Sandwich Bar’s Summer Luau starts at 2pm, with an all-you-can-eat buffet by
Chef Melissa Allen and ATL’s James Beard Award nominee bars (Banshee, Kimball House, Ticonderoga Club) shaking and stirring up top-tier sips.
Cost: $15 to eat; drink tickets separate

Support vets via crawdaddy-and-beer consumption

Monday, May 27
West End
Hit “Malt Disney” (Lee + White) today at 1pm, as Monday Night Garage throws a three-hour crawfish boil with Cajun-style mudbugs prepared by Big Easy Grille. Wasted Potential brass band is performing live, and they’ll have a special draft beer made just for the crawfish pairing called Shwaka Kellerpils -- a dry hopped, foeder-fermented, unfiltered pilsner. A dollar from all sales of the suds goes to Angels of America’s Fallen, an NPO that benefits the children of fallen soldiers and first-responders. You can get a plate with no beer, but why? So get the large plate, which is 3 pounds of crawfish, two beers, and a bib.
Cost: $20.67 - $43.99 (or free if you don’t like to eat or drink)
