Moving to another place is a huge change. It is very important that you prepare and get to know the place before relocating. When it comes to relocation, Charlotte in North Carolina gets more than the usual number of people moving to it – it is the third fastest-growing major city in the U.S.! If you are one of those thinking of moving to Charlotte, here are some things you need to know:
Sweet tea is a popular drink
They call it ‘sweet tea’ and what it is, is the usual tea that everyone drinks except it is iced and comes with lots of sugar (hence the name!). If you’re a fan of hot, bitter tea, you’d be hard-pressed to find it easily in Charlotte.
Barbecue is great
If you like your meat grilled, then Charlotte is a place for you! You’ll find lots of great barbecue joints here. Be ready to join barbecue parties, attend barbecue festivals, and argue about the best barbecue restaurant.
There are boats
This might be surprising for some people who know that Charlotte is landlocked. But even if though Charlotte is completely surrounded by land, you can find three man-made lakes in Charlotte that are well used by a lot of people: Lake Norman, Lake Wylie, and Mountain Island Lake. So if you’ve been dreaming about owning a boat, you could totally own one in Charlotte.
It’s a basketball city
Although Charlotte definitely has its share of football and baseball fans, the annual Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) tournament is one of the biggest events in the city. During CIAA week, Uptown Charlotte transforms into party central with parties happening everywhere at any time.
NASCAR is a big deal
After basketball, the NASCAR race is the next biggest deal in Charlotte. Expect huge crowds and various events when race week rolls around in mid-October.
