Visual Change Applications: Tree Removal in Kentlands

A reminder to Kentlands residents, tree removals are considered a landscaping change. If you are planning to remove trees within your property, the Kentlands Historical Trust (KHT) is requiring all residents submit a Visual Change Application for review. Once approved, the KHT will issue residents an HOA approval letter for the tree removal. This letter is required to obtain a permit from the City of Gaithersburg.

Tree removal permits are issued by the City of Gaithersburg.
For more information, please visit the city's website

This is a Kentlands Citizens Assembly Announcement.

Good morning, Roy Kelley I guess I'd not be able to live there.....I'd cut down every tree on my lot.... that's the first improvement I make, even on investment properties....

Sometimes people do not like restrictions on their own property, but it's good to let the residents know the regulations in Kentlands.

Good morning Roy. Not a fan of regulations of this sort, but understand their importance in some situations. Enjoy your day!

I have no idea what those yellow flowers are, Roy... but they make me happy just looking at them. And I'm all for these kinds of restrictions about tree removal and landscaping... keeps our neighborhoods looking good and not subject to the whims of people who can't always explain why they want to do what they do.

This past week I watched someone take down a huge tree, it was an amazing sight to see him climb up the tree with his chainsaw and start dropping enormous branches.

These are tiny yarrow flowers. You need to look very closely to notice them.

Roy,

I love the term visual applications for tree removal.  Our area is taking down eucalyptus trees, because in fires they become matchsticks.  A

I have to agree with Ron and Alexandra Seigel . . .the term visual application is very interesting.  It seems that it might leave a lot of subjective decision making to those who don't own the property.

There's a lot more involved when you remove a tree than you might think. When we removed a tree from our backyard (tree save area) we had to get City approval first even though it's our land.
