Long Island Homeowner Tip: Listing Photos Are Important

By
Real Estate Agent with The Top Team @ Charles Rutenberg Realty 255 Executive Dr, Plainview NY 11803

Want the listing of your home to stand above the crowd?

Whether you're a Realtor® or a Homeowner, listing with bad pictures, or no pictures at all, can cause buyers to skip viewing a home.

Here Are Some Tips of What Not To Do:

•Dark photos where you can only see the outline of a room is not recommended.
•Dirty bathrooms is a complete turnoff.
•Kitchens with stuff everywhere should not be shown.
•Animal heads all over a room can be queasy to some.
•Abandoned cars on the front lawn should not be included.
•Photos with your pets should be eliminated. There can be allergies for some buyers.
• Including pictures of yourself with your family is not advised.
•Unmade beds is not what buyers want to focus on.
•Showing a messy basement with laundry, toys or plumbing is not wanted.
•Dishes in the sink are distracting and so are refrigerator magnets.

Photos on websites, multiple listing services and blogs have a large impact on whether or not a buyer will want to visit your house or move onto another one.

If your photos look professional, it will set your listing apart from the competition, help generate extra interest, and showcase your property with the best features.

Good morning, Sheila and Larry... I've been using professional photos for 20+ years... even before we saw homes marketed on the internet to the extent it is today. I'm still astonished how many terrible photos I see in MLS today. What are those agents thinking? Why do their clients let them get away with it?

Nina, I too wonder where the sellers are that don't pay attention to the photos of their homes online!

Good morning, Sheila and Larry - first impressions start before a prospective buyer steps out of the car in front of a house for sale.  Quality photography matters.

Barbara, Oh yes...The Eye Buys in Real Estate!

Sally/David, Absolutely, but you'd think all agents would want to have only the best on their listings!

Michael, The first place a buyer sees a home is on the web. Quality is what you want them to notice first!

It drives me crazy to see so many terrible pictures on the MLS, I always wonder why someone would allow their home to be marketed so poorly.

Sheila and Larry, I am with Brian England . Drives me crazy to see so many poor photos on the MLS. There's just no excuse and it's such a disservice to a home. I hope every potential home seller on Long Island reads your post.
