I Didn't Know There Were Albino Deer! Deer Photos From Portsmouth, NH

Living in the woods, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, we have daily visits from deer, primarily in the winter months when they are in need of food. We have never seen albino deer. My daughter sent me these photos from northern New Hampshire of two beautiful albino deer.

Seeing these pictures gave me the idea to share photos I have taken of the deer in my yard in Portsmouth, NH. Here are some of my favorite shots:

They are such peaceful, sweet animals. I never get tired of seeing them.

BEAUTIFUL Sharon! Thank you so much for posting these photos! I lived in rural SW FL several years ago on 5 acres and we had deer through our yard twice a day, everyday. In the fall, during rutting season, we actually witnessed a stag fight as two stags came through with 2 different groups of does and fawns.

I still live in a woods of sorts, but too close to town to have deer now.

Hi Sharon ... thanks for the great pics. How beautiful are those albino deer! I always try to get photos of the deer on my property. Now, the best time to shoot is when they are eating my plants :)

They are actually real uncommon with half albino and tan being more so common. We call them piebalds. I love the bench and the pics.

Sharon: These pictures are beautiful. I have deer in my yard sometimes, but never get these good of pcitures. Thanks for sharing.

Jody Ours visit twice a day too. I actually witnessed "reindeer games" a couple of times. They were up on two legs and looked like they were boxing. I bet you miss your visitors!

Marie My landscaping took a beating from them this past winter. They ate the bushes right up against the house.

Sharon - I love the pictures especially the albinos. We see deer a lot but rarely close enough to get good pictures.

Sharon - Wow! Beautiful pictures! Unfortunately I'm not lucky enough to get deer in my yard :(

Judy I had never seen albino deer before, I would love to see one in my yard. What a gift that would be! There is a price to be paid for having them come so close...they eat all the birdseed and my landscaping gets trashed. My poor holly...chewed down to bare branches. We had to dig them up.

Maria Thank you, we do feel lucky to have them. (even if they do trash my landscaping)

Living where I do, we get deer in our yard nearly every day...especially in the spring and fall.

How cool is that. I had seen the photos of the albino moose before, but never the deer.

My son gets so excited everytime I show him photos like this. Thanks for sharing!

Clint Can you recommend any perennial plants that the deer don't eat?

Sharon ~ Great photos! I didn't know there were albino deer either! Did you get that close to them for the pictures?

Kathy I didn't photograph the Albinos. All the other photos are mine, though. They come up pretty close to my house. The first picture after the Albinos is right outside the window, they were standing on my front walk. The group at the birdfeeder are about twenty feet from my slider.

when i lived in upstate NY the deer used to bed down in our back yard. they were literally just part of the neighborhood.

there is/was a large herd at ft. drum, i believe of albino's.

Jay I bet you miss them. I would miss having them if we moved. I can't imagine a whole herd of albinos. That would be so pretty!

Hello,

I see my photos of the albino deer made it to this website. Pretty cool huh? These two are actually brother and sister. They have been coming to my back yard feeder since 2006 and still visit today!

I live in central Minnesota and really enjoy watching the twins interact with the other deer. These deer are true albinos and not piebalds.

I made the deer feeder and entered it at www.brownimg.com in their online contest. You can even vote for it! Hint...hint!

Tim I am so happy to hear from you! My daughter sent me the photos, she got them from a friend in Northern NH so I thought that is where the deer were from. Minnesota, huh? Thank you so much for giving me the "rest of the story" and sending the TV clip. What a great story. I know what it feels like to be waiting for the deer so someone at your house can see them and the deer don't show. My dad lives in Florida and is here in NH May to Sept. He would love to see them, and they just aren't around when he is. He actually did get to see a momma and her two babies this year...he was thrilled.

Your feeder is awesome. I will go to the site and vote for you.
