Friday Photo: Broom In Bloom In The Los Padres National Forest!

By

Yesterday, we took an early morning trip to gather more green schist rocks for our succulent plantings in Quincy Park.  We decided to stop for breakfast at the Baker's Table.  This is our favorite bakery in Santa Barbara County.  As we drove up Highway 154 we noticed the broom in full bloom everywhere we looked.  It lit up the overcast day!

Wishing you all a delightful Friday and a wonderful weekend ahead!

Nina Hollander we were driving up, when he told me he was going to have a "Nina" breakfast.  At first I had no idea what he was talking about.  Amy who owns the bakery loves almond croissants and Ron feels she has perfected it!  He also said afterwards, that he is good for another month or two.  LOL A

Will Hamm if you come out to our wine country, which I think these days surpasses some of the Napa wines, you should stop there for a great breakfast. A

Grant Schneider our hours vary from week to week.  For instance, this Saturday we are working in the morning, so we take time off on Thursday...And we enjoy our environment so much, and keeps counting our blessings at the first moment of doubt or negativity.  Too much to be thankful for to whine.  A

Its Latin name is Cytisus x spachianus aka sweet yellow broom. It thrives on dry hillside and has a pleasant fragrance, and I like the sound of broom in bloom.  A

Lottie Kendall I had not yeard that sweet yellow broom is a weed, but not according to our nurseries.  They are great looking and have a sweet fragrance.  And they are perfect for dry hillsides.  A

Ron and Alexandra Seigel - perhaps I have a different broom in mind; what is known as Scotch Broom here, looking very similar, is invasive but beautiful.

Lottie Kendall PS  I was thinking that all flowers were weeds at one time, before they were burdened with Latin names...

Santa Barbara is discouraging planting eucalyptus because of its high flammability.  A

I bet the broom in bloom is a cheery sight. Yellow tends to do that to the landscape. As for your Nina breakfast - oh my, that does sound delicious and decadent. :)
